Almost one in five workers has a flexible employment contract

Almost one in five workers in the Netherlands has some form of flexible employment contract, the national statistics office CBS said on Tuesday.


Over the past 10 years, the number of people with a flexible contract has risen from 13% to 18%, the CBS said.
Younger workers are most likely to have flexible working conditions – 52% of 15 to 25-year-olds do not have a traditional permanent job with fixed hours.
The CBS’s definition of a flexible contract includes temporary contracts, call-out contracts, employment through staffing agencies and interim positions.
