‘Police plan to strike during big pop festivals, sporting events’

The police are planning to continue their campaign for a 3% pay rise and agreement on early retirement by striking during major events including pop festivals, the AD reports on Tuesday.

Pop festival Pink Pop, the Dance Valley festival and Amstel Gold cycling race are all potential targets, the paper says. The traditional Liberation Day festivals are also on the list of possible events.
Police unions are angry at the lack of response to their strike action so far, the paper says. Last week, police stations in the four big cities closed their doors for a four-hour period and those tactics will also continue this week.
The unions are meeting to discuss future strategy on Tuesday evening.
