Nedcar may be saved through deal with BMW

German car maker BMW is in talks on producing cars in the Mitsubishi plant in Born, Limburg from 2014, according to various media reports on Friday.

Mitsubishi is pulling out of the Nedcar plant later this year. Nedcar has a workforce of 1,500 and is a major local employer.
According to the reports, BMW does not intend to buy the factory outright. Instead, Eindhoven industrial group VDL would become the new owner and BMW would take charge of production, Nos television reported.
Other companies from Europe and China have expressed an interest in the plant but concrete plans have failed to materialise.
