Dutchman arrested on suspicion of leading internet drug ring

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man from Lelystad on suspicion of leading an international crime gang which sells drugs on the internet.

Seven other suspects were arrested in Colombia and the US, say press reports. The arrests follow a two-year investigation by the US department of justice.
The eight suspects are accused of running a website called Adamflowers and sending drugs, including LSD and ecstasy, to customers. The police estimate that between 2007 and 2009, 5,200 orders were sent, bringing in over $1m.
The US has asked for the Dutch man and the man in Colombia, who is an American citizen, to be extradited.
All the suspects are accused of drug smuggling and money laundering, which can result in a life sentence in the US.
