In particular, experienced criminals are skilled at getting around security cameras and this lessens their effectiveness, the research shows. The report is based on interviews with 42 convicted criminals and at-risk youngsters.
Nevertheless, cameras are useful in alerting officials to risky situations and in collecting evidence, the researchers said.
