Biggest councils cut workforce by over 6,000

The Netherlands’ 16 biggest local authorities are cutting their combined workforces by over 6,100 in order to make essential savings, the NRC reports on Friday.

In total, the councils want to cut their budgets by nearly €600m, and reducing the size of their payroll is part of that, the paper says.
Earlier this week, for example, it emerged Rotterdam city council is considering cutting 2,450 jobs.
