The Netherlands beats England 2-3 in football friendly

Thursday 01 March 2012

An injury-time goal from Arjen Robben gave the Netherlands a 2-3 win over England in Wednesday evening's football friendly, as Oranje continues its preparations for this summer's European Cup.

Robben had put the Netherlands ahead with what the BBC called a 'magnificent solo effort' early in the game.

Klaas Huntelaar quickly added a second with a 'spectacular header' which resulted in injuries to the Dutch striker and England defender Chris Smalling. Smalling was taken off by stretcher with a bad gash to his head.
