Tax office may close 22 branches

The tax office is considering closing down 22 of its 40 branches in an effort to meet government spending cuts of €400m, website nu.nl reports on Friday.

The closures will not lead to job losses, but some staff may have to travel further to get to work, nu.nl said.
In addition, clients will have to go further to meet tax officials. For example, there will be no tax offices left in the provinces of Flevoland and Drenthe if the closures go ahead.
