Schiphol starts tests of do-it-yourself biometric passport checks

Amsterdam Schiphol airport begins a test run of a self-service passport control on Tuesday evening in its departure and arrival hall 3.

Passengers wanting to use this quicker system will need a new European biometric passport which contains a facial recognition chip.
It is expected that the biometric passport system will result in shorter queues this summer.
Immigration minister Gerd Leers will be the first through the new passport gate this evening.
