Samsom well ahead in Labour party leader race

Diederik Samsom is well ahead among Labour (PvdA) council members in the race to become the new party leader, according to research carried out by radio programme Dit is de dag.


Samsom leads by 59% with Ronald Plasterk second on 24%.
Plasterk is the candidate most named as second choice, taking 40% of the vote. Samsom follows with 20% of council members naming him their second choice.
The question of who should head the Labour list of candidates at the next general election gives Samsom 43% of the vote with Amsterdam council executive Lodewijk Asscher second with 32%.
