PSV’s coach Fred Rutten sacked after disappointing results

Fred Rutten has been sacked as coach of premier division football club PSV Eindhoven after a string of disappointing results.

Rutten’s position became untenable after this weekend’s 3-1 defeat by NAC Breda, according to media reports. Last week, PSV lost 4-2 to Valencia in the Europa League and were thrashed 6-2 by FC Twente last weekend.
PSV has since moved down to fourth place in the league. Angry fans surrounded the players’ bus after Sunday’s defeat calling on Rutten to stand down.
Rutten has been in charge of PSV for almost three seasons. Phillip Cocu, currently part of the Eindhoven club’s technical crew, will take over as coach temporarily, the Telegraaf reported.
