March was one of the warmest in 100 years

This March was warm, dry and sunny with an average temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the norm, the KNMI weather bureau said on Friday.


This month is now in joint third place with March 1957 on a ranking of the warmest months of March over the past 100 years.
The highest temperature, 20.8 degrees Celsius, was record in Limburg on March 23. There were three days of frost, compared with eight in a normal March. There was also much less rain than usual.
According to the KNMI, the weather will be back to normal in April, with frost possible at night towards the end of next week.
