Leadership campaign boosts Labour

The campaign to find a new leader to replace Job Cohen has boosted Labour’s opinion fortunes by five seats so far, according to the latest Maurice de Hond opinion poll.

The poll says Labour would now win 19 seats if there was a general election tomorrow, up one on the previous week and up five on mid February when Cohen stood down.
The SP remains the biggest party in the De Hond poll with 32 seats, with the VVD down two at 30. The anti-Islam PVV and the Christian Democrats added one to 23 and 12 seats respectively.
A poll of party leader popularity published at the same time shows PVV leader Geert Wilders is the only one to be less popular than he was three months ago. Wilders’ rating fell from 4.7 to 4.4. SP leader Emile Roemer heads the list with 6.9.
CDA finance minister Jan Kees de Jager is the most popular minister with a 6.1 rating. Prime minister Mark Rutte is down from 6.4 to 6.
