International Criminal Court announces first verdict: guilty

The International Criminal Court in The Hague on Wednesday issued its first ever verdict, finding Congo warlord Thomas Lubanga guilty.


Lubanga was found guilty of recruiting and using child soldiers between 2002 and 2003. It is the first verdict issued by the court since it was set up 10 years ago.
Lubanga will be sentenced at a later hearing. He could face up to life in prison.
