Household income fell last year for fourth year in a row

Dutch household income fell by an average 0.4% last year, the fourth year in a row that families have had less money to spend, the national statistics office CBS said on Friday.

Household incomes last rose in 2007, the year before the credit crisis began to bite. Last year’s drop in income is due to inflation outstripping pay rises and higher healthcare and pension premiums, the CBS said.
