Former NMa top man received €352,000 as golden handshake

Former competition authority chairman Pieter Kalbfleisch received a golden handshake of €352,000 when he left the post last year, reports the Financieele Dagblad.

Kalbfleisch left the NMa to prepare his defence on charges he lied under oath about the Chipshol case, in which a project developer accuses local authorities, national government, air traffic control body LVNL and Schiphol airport of colluding against a business park.
Economic affairs minister Maxime Verhagen told the FD the amount of €352,000 is ‘unreasonable and undesirable’. However, after taking legal advice, he can do nothing about it because it was agreed in 2003.
