Amsterdam Occupy camp to be cleared on Thursday

Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan on Monday ordered organisers of the Occupy Amsterdam movement to clear their camp in the city centre outside the former stock exchange by Thursday morning.

The mayor says the demonstrators have not kept to agreements made earlier this year when the size of the camp was reduced following protests from local businesses.
In addition, far more than the agreed maximum of four people are sleeping at the camp overnight and it has also become a magnet for tramps and alcoholics.
If the protestors do not move voluntarily, they will be forcibly removed, Novum said.
The Occupy Rotterdam camp has also been ordered to move by the end of March.
