27% of job applicants cover up missing months on their cvs

Some 27% of job applicants in the Netherlands hide periods of unemployment of longer than three months on their cvs, according to research by insurance group BNP Paribas Cardif.

Some 40% of the 1,000 people questions said they had a gap of over three months on their cv and in almost half the cases this was due to being out of work. A further 30% have a job gap due to a long-term illness.
The most common way to hide a gap is to stretch out other periods of employment, the survey showed.
