UPC's parent company considers bidding to take over Ziggo

Thursday 23 February 2012

Liberty Global, the parent company of Dutch cable operator UPC, is considering making a bid for sector peer Ziggo, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

Ziggo's owners - venture capital groups Warburg Pincus and Cinven - were preparing Ziggo for a partial sale, and a stock exchange launch was seen as the most likely option.

However, Liberty Global is rich enough to be able to buy Ziggo outright, the Telegraaf says.
