Telecom firm KPN targeted by hackers

Telecoms firm KPN was targeted by hackers last month, who managed to break into the company’s computer systems and access confidential private and corporate client details, Nos radio reports.

The cyber break-in was discovered on January 20 after the hackers had been at work for several days, Nos said.
While KPN took measures to close off its systems, the hackers continued to gain access, at which point the national cyber security centre and justice ministry were involved, Nos said.
A spokesman was unable to tell Nos what had been stolen by the hackers but said there is no evidence information about users, including bank account details, had been copied.
The police are currently investigating.
