Supermarket group Ahold buys online retailer Bol.com for €350m

Ahold is buying online retailer Bol.com from Cyrte Investments and NPM Capital for €350m, the supermarket giant said on Monday. The all-cash deal is about ‘creating growth’, Ahold said in a statement.

Bol booked total sales of €355m in 2011 and claims to be the biggest online retailer in the Netherlands with 3.4 million customers last year. The company sells books, toys and electronic equipment.
Ahold said the acquisition would contribute directly to earnings per share. Bol.com will become Ahold’s fifth retail pillar alongside Albert Heijn, Gall&Gall, Etos and online food retailer albert.nl.
