Labour likely to back Greek deal

The Labour party (PvdA) is set to back the government line during Tuesday’s debate on a second EU bail-out for Greece, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.

‘The package more or less includes the measures we had hoped for,’ Labour MP Ronald Plasterk is quoted as saying. Although the deal is not perfect, it has headed off a disaster for Greece and the eurozone, Plasterk said.
The PvdA has 30 seats in parliament, enough to ensure a comfortable majority for the minority cabinet. The government’s alliance partner, the anti-Islam PVV, opposes the rescue deal.
