Inflation reaches 2.5% in January, or 2.9% according to EU figures

The Dutch annual rate of inflation reached 2.5% in January, up slightly on the December figure, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

Inflation was boosted by the price of petrol, gas and electricity, the CBS said. The increase in health insurance costs also had an affect.
According to the harmonised European Union figures, inflation in the Netherlands has reached 2.9%, above the eurozone average of 2.7%.
