El-Hamdaoui transfer to Fiorentina fails at last moment

The transfer of sidelined Ajax striker Mounir El-Hamdaoui to Fiorentina collapsed on Tuesday evening after the Italian side failed to deliver a bank guarantee on time, the Telegraaf reports.

The two sides had agreed a €2m transfer fee and bonuses of up to €3m, but Fiorentina did not meet the deadline to deliver a guarantee, the paper said. Nor did Ajax receive the first down payment.
El-Hamdaoui has been out of the first team all season because of a dispute with coach Frank de Boer. His representative Sigi Lens says the player should be entitled to compensation from Ajax for damage to his career.
Lens blamed the collapse of the deal on the Amsterdam club for making demands after the close of the Italian transfer window.
