Dutch technology firms mark time

Growth in the Dutch technology sector has slowed to virtually nothing, according to new research by employers’ organisation FME-CWM.

Pricing is under pressure, demand is dropping and the shortage of qualified staff is also a major cause for concern, the research shows.
Nevertheless, employers think they will be able to achieve growth of 1% this year, with full recovery in 2012
‘The technological industry is continuing to invest, despite the vulnerable economic situation,’ said FME chairwoman Ineke Dezentjé Hamming-Bluemink. ‘The government must do this as well. We must not make savings which will damage the Netherlands’ competitive strengths.’
