Refugee boss advised to stay at home

Nurten Albayrak, suspended head of asylum seeker centre organisation COA, should not return to work, according to its own works council in a statement to staff on Tuesday.

Albayrak was suspended following complaints about her abrasive managerial manner and the amount she is paid. She was sent home while an inquiry into the running of the COA is carried out.
Last week she won her case for unfair suspension and was told by The Hague court she could return to work on March 1.
However, the works council says only if she stays away will the inquiry be ‘unimpeded and carefully completed’, Nos reports.
Since the court’s decision and her appearance on the Pauw & Witteman tv show, in which she said the financial crisis and the reorganisations within the COA were to blame for the unrest rather than her management style, staff have become even more jittery, says the works council’s statement.
It recommends she stay at home until the results of the inquiry are known.
