Naked royals cause Twitter commotion

A satirical sketch featuring members of the royal family at the end of the tv programme De wereld draait door on Monday evening caused a commotion on Twitter.

The sketch was a comment on PVV leader Geert Wilders’ reaction to queen Beatrix covering her head during a visit to a mosque in Abu Dhabi, says broadcasting company VARA.
The voice-over pointed out that the queen always complies with local customs. The visuals showed the heads of the queen, prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima superimposed on naked bodies during a state visit to Papua New-Guinea.
Hundreds of tweeters reacted to the film, saying it was ‘tasteless’ and ‘goes too far’. Although some tweeters admired the film for ‘testing the boundaries’.
The website of Lucky TV, which made the film, crashed last night with the volume of traffic.
Oman
In the meantime, Beatrix and her party are continuing their trip with a three-day state visit to Oman. This official visit was postponed in March 2011 because of unrest in the country.
