More storks overwinter in the Netherlands

The mild weather has prompted over 650 storks to spend the winter in the Netherlands, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

Last year the organisers of the annual count spotted almost 600 storks, up 100 on the 2010 total.
Experts told the paper another reason storks remain in the Netherlands all year round is that they get fed during the winter months. Storks usually winter in more southern countries, the paper says.
