Holleerder to return to court, this time as a witness

Willem Holleerder, released from jail last week, will be called as a witness in a hearing into a botched attack on underworld figure Cor van Hout, the court in Haarlem announced on Tuesday.

Holleerder and Van Hout both served prison sentences for the kidnapping in 1983 of beer magnate Freddie Heineken and his chauffeur, Ab Doderer. €16m was paid for their release.
In 2000, Van Hout was attacked but survived. He was shot dead in 2003.
A court case against two suspects was thrown out in 2008 for lack of evidence. The Amsterdam court has now instructed the Haarlem court to retry the two and to call as witnesses everyone involved with the case who is still alive, reports nu.nl
The 56-year-old Holleerder was secretly released from jail last week after serving six years of a nine-year sentence for extortion and blackmail.
He appears to have returned to Amsterdam where he was spotted in a cafe in the Jordaan area on Monday, says the Telegraaf.
