Hockey stars dropped from Oranje

Thursday 12 January 2012

Top hockey players Teun de Nooijer (35) and Taeke Taekema (31) have been dropped by Oranje coach Paul van Ass, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

One reason is the Dutch mens' team had a disappointing Champions Trophy in New Zealand last year, the paper says. Oranje came in third.

De Nooijer has more than 400 caps for the Netherlands and was part of the Olympic gold team in both 1996 and 2000. Taekema, a penalty corner specialist, has over 200 caps.
