‘World’s oldest performer’ dies at 108

Johannes Heesters, the Dutch singer and actor who made his name performing in Germany during World War II, has died in hospital at the age of 108.


Heesters made a come-back in the Netherlands in 2008. He had last performed in his home country in 1964 when he was booed off the stage while starring as Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music.
