Westerly storm looms on Wednesday

The Netherlands will probably be hit by a westerly storm with winds of up to 100 kph on the coast on Wednesday afternoon, weather forecasters said on Tuesday.

While it will be windy for much of the day, the storm will be at full force in the afternoon and evening, the KNMI weather bureau said.
There is also a serious chance of a second severe storm on Friday, the Telegraaf said. And on Saturday, temperatures will dip to between 2 and 4 Celsius, with a light frost at night and snow and hail, the paper said.
However, it will be at least mid-December before there is any chance of prolonged cold weather.
Tuesday morning’s hail storms led to a number of road accidents, particularly on the A7 and A32 in the east of the country. And some 10 vehicles were involved in a pile-up on the A50 heading towards Arnhem. One person was injured.
