More than 200 police officers sacked in three years
More than 200 police officers were sacked for ‘integrity issues’ between 2008 and 2010, according to research by RTL news.
In total, police carried out 4,000 integrity inquiries over the period. The investigations ranged from drunk-driving to child porn possession and passing on information to criminals, RTL news said.
One case involved a police officer living together with a drugs dealer while three officers were involved in manslaughter, murder and attempted murder cases.
Police chiefs have described the total as ‘unacceptable’, RTL news said. In addition to the 219 officers who lost their jobs, a further 101 resigned before they could be forced out and 179 were given final warnings.
