Amsterdam college denies degree fraud, sets up inquiry

Amsterdam’s hbo college Hogeschool van Amsterdam denied claims of degree fraud and has launched an inquiry into the allegations, website Nu.nl reports.

While there are problems in some departments, college chairwoman Jet Bussemaker says there is no evidence so far that anyone has been awarded a degree they did not deserve.
The results of the inquiry, prompted by a flurry of media reports last weekend, is due in mid-January, the website said.
‘Every wrongly-awarded degree is one too many,’ Bussemaker said. ‘But I have not had any confirmation whatsoever of the rumours.’
The Telegraaf, which broke the story, said the problems centred on the biggest faculty – Economics and Management.
