Traffic fines go up sharply next year

Fines for traffic offences are set to go up sharply next year – almost double in some cases, according to justice ministry documents.


The fine for not stopping on a zebra crossing is to go up from €180 to €320, while the fine for unnecessary hooting will rise from €180 to €350. Jumping a red light and phoning while driving will cost €220.
