Spain’s most wanted found in Alkmaar

Spain’s most wanted criminal was found in hiding in Alkmaar, news site nu.nl said on Tuesday. He was arrested on Friday by a special police team.

The Portugese national Paulo Cesar Baptista was sentenced to six years imprisonment in Portugal for involvement with the mafia. He escaped to Ibiza where he worked in a hotel under an assumed name.
On August 19, he beat up the hotel barman, who died two weeks later. He went on the run and was tracked down in Alkmaar.
The Spanish authorities have requested he be extradited to stand trial.
