Police find 1,300 neglected animals, illegal fireworks in warehouse

Police have found some 1,300 neglected animals, including goats, rabbits, chickens and canaries, in a warehouse in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, south of Amsterdam, Nos television reports.

The animals have been confiscated and moved elsewhere to be cared for, the broadcaster said.
In addition, police uncovered 286 kilos of illegal fireworks in the warehouse, plus fake brand-name clothing, two hunting rifles and five litres of illegal pesticide. Two men, aged 60 and 19, have been arrested.
The report did not give any more details about the animals, their condition or what they were being kept for.
