Healthcare managers are earning less

Most healthcare managers are now earning less than the norm of €190,000 which they agreed in 2010, health minister Edith Schippers told parliament in a briefing on Monday evening.

According to the minister, 101 new managers were appointed in 2010 on an average salary of €147,000. Ten others are earning above the €190,000.
Schippers thinks there is a cultural change in the health service, with some managers becoming aware of the sensitivity of their high salaries. They are accepting they will not receive a salary increase. Some are even taking a lower salary.
The figures should be ‘interpreted with care’, says the minister according to press reports. The final figures for 2010 will be published in December.
