Turkish Dutch set to claim back integration course costsTuesday 11 October 2011 Thousands of Turkish nationals are set to claim back the cost of integration courses from the Dutch state, now that the compulsory classes have been ruled illegal, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Tuesday. Lawyer Bilal Coskun told the paper some 30,000 Turks have been forced to take the courses, many of them in Turkey itself. He has now set up a foundation to represent them in claiming back an average €5,000 per person. New rules In 2006, the government introduced new rules requiring Turkish nationals who want to come to the Netherlands to pass an integration exam before arrival. But this has now been ruled illegal under treaties between Turkey and the EU. The government has already said people who took the course after August 16 would be refunded, but not the rest. © DutchNews.nl
wheww, forcing people to take immigration courses (even whilst they are in Turkey!!)and forcing them to pay, and then having to refund all this money - looks like the new Dutch government is busy acting in a very uneffective and inefficient manner. I wonder what all this is costing us taxpayers? By Bill | October 11, 2011 2:33 PM and they are absolutely right. The Dutch government gets away with far too much. and the government can well say "people who took the course after August 16 would be refunded, but not the rest", but it is not up to them to decide unilateraly. We'll see what the courts say. By Leon | October 11, 2011 4:57 PM Could this little number end up like the ID card biz? ("Yes you can, no you can't") By The visitor | October 11, 2011 7:42 PM A Turkish group wants to sue the government because of an age-discrimination rule involving arbitrarily selected emigrated AOWers. I'm not Turkish but wanted to join. I heard that the govt might abolish this rule. Are they afraid of having their many misdeeds exposed? Well, abolition saves money, killing two birds with one bezuiniging. By Husserl | October 12, 2011 8:24 AM The immigrants have to adapt, adopt and assimilate. If that does not happen, then you do not have a united country. The country will sooner or later fall into racial or religious crisis. If these Turkish immigrants are Muslims, boy , The Dutch Government does have a problem on its hands and this so called human-rights policy passed now in favour of the Turkish immigrants WILL SOON SPELL BIG TROUBLE FOR THE COUNTRY. What tickles me is that many Dutch citizens are ready to give their country away to these immigrants in the name of human rights. What rights do you think YOU will get in a Muslim country, YOU DUTCH FOOLS? By what a waste | October 15, 2011 1:59 AM So by being compassionate and sympathetic to immigrants trying to make a better life for themselves, we are "giving our country away to the Muslims"? How exactly do you see the ENTIRE GOVERNMENT infiltrated and converted to Islam? By Stupid | October 15, 2011 10:15 AM what a waste: with almost 8% of the Dutch population being already Islamic, and most of them already well integrated, I have to wonder what you are talking about? You obviously do not live in the Netherlands and do see just how well most Turkish people have already integrated into Dutch society. The Turkish folks here usually speak much better Dutch than the Americans or the English, much better. Of course, their skin is slightly tanned and they believe in a different religion, so they desire to be generalized in your whole 'be afraid of Islam' way of thinking, right? I have the feeling we are living in the Middle Ages sometimes when I read certain comments! By Bill | October 15, 2011 12:38 PM Turkish 'immigrants' have been here for many generations already, as have Morrocans. Is the Islamic Brotherhood having a massive presence in Dutch parliaments pressing for Sharia law *looks around* oh no, they aren't - not a single one. Several muslims in various Dutch mainstream political parties though. Oh, but I see a couple of Christian parties, one of which openly bans women from becoming members of parliament! I'm an expat. I have no intention of assimilating, and giving up all that I was before I moved here. I will learn Dutch, but I won't eat raw herring or attend circle parties. "What a waste" indeed, wasting life reading biased rightwing media instead of looking with your own eyes. By osita | October 15, 2011 9:14 PM

It is time to payback for discriminating policies. Guys are still insisting to be not fair by "The government has already said people who took the course after August 16 would be refunded, but not the rest."
People in the Netherlands should open their eyes and stand against the discriminating policies of the government if they are against that in first place.
Nobody's fool !
