The Netherlands is world’s biggest fresh veg exporter

For the fourth year in a row, the Netherlands is the world’s biggest exporter of fresh vegetables, the market gardening board said at the weekend.

In total, the Netherlands exported 4.6 billion kilos of vegetables, with a market value of €4.2bn.
Second on the list is Mexico, which is closing the gap on the Netherlands, the marketing board said.
The main Dutch export is onions, followed by tomatoes. Bell peppers and cucumbers are also major export crops.
