Terrorism threat comes from abroad: report

The biggest terrorist threat still comes from outside the Netherlands where Muslim extremists see the country as a legitimate target because of insults to Islam, the national counter-terrorism organisation NCTb says.

International jihadist websites have recently appeared calling for violence against the Netherlands or Dutch people, the organisation said. But the new report from the NCTb keeps the threat level at 'limited'.

The threat from Muslim extremists in the country remains low, says the NCTb, although Muslims who live here are still trying to reach training camps abroad. The few who manage this find it difficult to make contact with jihadist networks, the organisation states.
