Satnav maker TomTom reorganises to meet market, jobs to go

Satellite navigation systems maker TomTom is about to embark on a major overhaul of its operations and compulsory job losses will be inevitable, the company said on Monday.

The announcement came as TomTom published its third quarter figures, showing a 10% drop in sales to €336m, compared with the same period in 2010.
The company says the reorganisation is necessary to reflect changes in the market and the switch towards inbuilt systems.
‘The nature of our industry is changing and we will adapt our organisation accordingly,’ said CEO Harold Goddijn. ‘The reduction of the workforce is a regrettable but necessary step to adapt the company to the changed conditions in the markets we operate in.’
