Dutch solar cars second and fourth in Australian race

Solar powered cars from Delft and Twente Universities are poised to take second and fourth place in a race from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia – a distance of some 3,000 km.

The Nuon Solar Team from Delft, one of the favourites to win the event, is some 30 minutes behind Japan’s Tokai University which has now crossed the finishing line, according to bloggers monitoring the event.
The Twente team is set to be fourth. The race takes place every two years. This year 37 teams from 20 countries took part.
The official results have not yet been announced.
