Some 100,000 households in the Betuwe region are without power following breakdowns at two sub-stations in Tiel and Zaltbommel, website nu.nl reports on Friday morning.

Train services have also been hit by the power cut and there is reduced mobile phone coverage.
Officials from grid operator Tennet said they did not know how long it would take to end the breakdowns.
