Tough fight ahead if more cuts are on the table, Geert Wilders

Any attempt by the minority government to come up with more spending cuts on top of the €18bn already agreed will lead to a ‘very tough fight’ within the coalition alliance, Geert Wilders said on Thursday evening.

Wilders’ anti-Islam PVV has agreed to support the current package of cuts in return for tighter immigration rules.
New cuts are not yet on the cards, but if economic growth does not meet targets, the coalition agreement between the cabinet and PVV does leave room for further reductions in spending.
Wilders says extra cuts should be confined to what he calls ‘left-wing hobbies’ such as development aid.
