Some 30,000 students forced to live at home

Some 30,000 university and college students are currently forced to live at home because of the shortage of student accommodation, according to research by the LSVb student union.

A year ago, there were 20,000 students without a room.
The housing shortage is most acute in Amsterdam and Utrecht and has risen most sharply in Utrecht and Leiden, the LSVb says.
The union says students should be able to base their choice of college or university on the courses, rather than on the availability of student accommodation, as many are now forced to do.
