Saturday’s storm causes some problems, Utrecht hardest hit

The heavy storm which swept over the Netherlands on Saturday night caused most problems in the Utrecht area, according to media reports on Sunday.

Train services around Utrecht were halted for a time after a tree was blown down near Bunnick, damaging the overhead cables.
There were also problems with train services in Zeeland, after lightning disrupted the signalling system.
The KNMI weather bureau had issued a code orange warning for the storm. At one point, the organisation reported 800 lightning flashes over a five-minute period.
