Philips sees innovation as crucial to growth

Electronics giant Philips will continue to innovate in order to achieve future growth, CEO Frans van Houten said on Tuesday during an innovation conference.

‘We are looking mainly to grow in emerging markets,’ said Van Houten. ‘That’s why we are increasingly active in places like China, Brazil, Russia and India.’
Innovative technology can help with soaring government budgets, according to Van Houten. He pointed to growing healthcare costs where Philips is trying to keep patients at home with the use of home monitoring.
‘By investing in innovative products you can invest yourself out of the financial crisis,’ he said.
