Passenger group angry over Rotterdam train service changes

A group calling for improvements to the public transport system has made a formal complaint to the competition body NMa about services to Rotterdam in 2012, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

The organisation claims the new timetables mean a trip between Amsterdam and Rotterdam will now take 10 minutes longer than at present, forcing commuters to use more expensive high speed services.
The organisation is also angry that direct journeys between Rotterdam and Schiphol airport will be scrapped and that passengers will have to change trains in Leiden.
The organisation, Maatschappij Voor Beter OV, says the NS is abusing its monopoly position.
