Immigration minister to investigate claims about refugee boss

Immigration minister Gerd Leers is to investigate claims that the head of the COA, the government organisation in charge of looking after asylum seekers, is wasting large amounts of public money.

Nos television at the weekend quoted anonymous workers who made a number of allegations about the organisation’s director Nurten Albayrak.
They said she ‘queened’ it over the organisation, and that it had failed to adapt to the sharp drop in refugee numbers. The claims are backed up by minutes of meetings and other documentation, the Nos says.
The Labour party has called for an emergency debate in parliament on the claims.
